Product Review: Lush Sweet Lips Lip Scrub

Hi lovelies! Today I will be reviewing the Lush lip scrub called "Sweet Lips".

Lush Lip Scrub in "Sweet Lips" has a very granulated sugar texture to it.

They have two other flavors, but I decided to go with the chocolate one. Now, overall I'd say this is an okay product - it's so basic you could easily make a scrub similar to this at home - making this product fairly expensive (around $10). After one use, I can definitely say it made my lips smooth and soft (and tasted delicious!); however after repeated uses, I noticed my lips beginning to dry out a little bit due to the alcohol in the ingredients. (Alcohol is used as a sort of "trick" - you use the product, notice your lips are dry, and will repeatedly use the product more to combat the problem - a very vicious cycle, I know.) Anyways, what I did once I noticed that was to use the product at maximum once per week as a nice weekly exfoliator. In conclusion, I love all lush products and will be finishing this product, however will not be repurchasing because of the fact that I can make a more moisturizing and simple lip scrub at home (more cost-effective that way too!).

By the way - let me know if you'd like me to post an easy DIY video on how to make your own moisturizing lip scrub!

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque & Rejuvenating Shampoo Review

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque & Rejuvenating Shampoo Review

Hi lovelies! Today, I have a review for you on the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Mask and the accompanying Rejuvenating Shampoo - two products I've used extensively for several months. I usually don't review haircare products too often, however these two products, especially the hair mask, have been getting a lot of buzz lately so I thought I'd let you know about it.
The Macadamia Natural Oil line of products are meant to nourish problematic hair using Macadamia and Argan oils - essentially restoring it to a healthy balance of softness and shine, while also protecting the hair from chemicals, heat, and damage from natural UV protection. The claims seemed exactly like what I was searching for, since my thin/fine hair is color-treated and often very dry and brittle.

As you can see, the product is very thick, yet has a very creamy consistency.

Price: $4.00 for 1 oz, $33.00 for 8.5 oz

Availability: select salon locations, drugstores, and online

Ingredients: water, cetearyl alcohol, glycerin, cetrimonium chloride, quaternium-80, amodimethicone, castor seed oil, fragrance, algae extract, tocopheryl acetate, tea tree leaf oil, anthemis nobilis flower oil, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, argania spinosa kernel oil, limonene, butylphenyl methylpropional, hexyl cinnamal, linalool, citronellol, C11-15 pareth07, C12-16 pareth-9, trideceth-12, trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone

Directions: "Use a liberal amount and comb through clean, wet hair. Allow to penetrate hair shaft for 7 minutes before rinsing. No heat necessary. Dry and style hair as usual. Do not use more than twice a week."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I began using this masque once every week in place of my regular conditioner (Aussie 3 Minute Miracle) and found that it was very moisturizing and left my hair feeling soft but not greasy or oily. (When using this product, make sure to not work it into your roots otherwise you'll definitely look greasy. Also, make sure not to use more than once per week - your hair will feel very weighed down and oily if you do.) It definitely is a great conditioner/mask - if you want to splurge. To me, $33 for a hair mask seems like a lot, however it did last me for about 3 months. In comparison to some of my other favorite conditioners/masks, I couldn't find any huge differences and I don't think my hair benefitted any different in the long run. My Aussie 3 Minute Miracle takes a shorter amount of time to penetrate, doing the exact same job as the Macadamia mask, and at a fraction of the cost ($5). In conclusion, this is definitely a great all-natural mask (with very natural, nourishing ingredients) however I don't think I will be repurchasing it for the price.

"Macadamia Natural Oil Rejuvenating Shampoo is a moisturizing shampoo for all hair types and is excellent for dry, damaged hair. The Rejuvenating Shampoo gently cleanses the hair while weightlessly replenishing moisture and protecting the hair from environmental elements."

Price: $21 for 10 oz

Availability: select salon locations, drugstores, and online

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Cocamide DEA, Glycol Distearate, Cocamidoprophyl Betaine, Zinc Pyrithione, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Dimethicone, Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Parfum/Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Citric Acid, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavander) Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Propylparaben, Sea Salt, Sodium Chloride, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethanolamine, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Hydroxyisohexl 3 Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Alpha IsoMethylIonone, Butylphenyl Methypropional

Directions: Apply to wet hair and massage the scalp and roots with fingertips to work into a lather. Rinse thoroughly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The shampoo claims to gently cleanse chemically treated, damaged hair, replenishes moisture with no heavy build-up while building protection from harsh daily environmental elements. Right off the bat, the smell is delicious and very sweet, and the texture and consistency is similar to that of any other shampoo. One great aspect about this product is that it's color safe, sulfate free and paraben free. However, for the price (once again!) I found that the shampoo really made no difference in my hair and cheaper alternatives of shampoo have come out with similar claims that are just as good.

New NYX Dewy Setting Spray Review

Hi everyone!
Today's review is centered around the new NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Spray. (A new matte finish spray also came out, however I only purchased the dewy finish spray.)

Net Wt. 2.03 fl. oz -- 60 mL

"Description: Demand Perfection! For that fresh make up look that lasts, NYX Makeup Setting Sprays are lightweight and comfortable while working hard to make sure your makeup stays put. Available in a gorgeous Matte Shine-Free Finish or Dewy fresh glow.

What it is: A lightweight water-based makeup setting spray that makes sure your makeup stays put.

How to use: Shake, spray and set! Shake the bottle and spray onto your face from a 10 inch distance."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The purpose of this spray is to keep your makeup looking fresh with that “just-applied” look all day, keeping you complexion flawless and shielding it from temperature variations, sweat and air pollution. This would definitely be a great product if you find yourself constantly reapplying your makeup throughout the day.

Now, I have normal-dry skin, and I found the finish very pleasing and natural - not too dewy to the point of looking oily. It refreshed and cooled my skin (after putting all those layers of makeup on!) and left my complexion flawless/airbrushed - not cakey nor powdery. However, for those of you with very oily skin, I wouldn't suggest you buy the dewy finish spray - it will make your skin look even more oily and is not meant for oil-control. Although I haven't tried it, you may want to look into buying the matte finish by NYX.

I tested out the dewy finish spray for a few weeks, and I can definitely assure you that it was very long wearing and made a difference in my makeup's longevity for the day. I've tried samples of the Skindinavia setting sprays/ the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray ($30) before, and I'd say the NYX sprays, at only $8, are very comparable in terms of quality. They both do what they claim, however the NYX spray is at a fraction of the cost.

For the cons, I'd say I'm not very big on the initial scent - it faintly smells like a mixture of alcohol and water - however, once you spray it on your face, the scent goes away and doesn't linger throughout the day. Secondly, make sure you don't spray too much and make sure to mist it evenly all over your face (otherwise you will look oily).

They setting sprays are available on ulta or on the NYX website for $8.
