New NYX Dewy Setting Spray Review

Hi everyone!
Today's review is centered around the new NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Spray. (A new matte finish spray also came out, however I only purchased the dewy finish spray.)

Net Wt. 2.03 fl. oz -- 60 mL

"Description: Demand Perfection! For that fresh make up look that lasts, NYX Makeup Setting Sprays are lightweight and comfortable while working hard to make sure your makeup stays put. Available in a gorgeous Matte Shine-Free Finish or Dewy fresh glow.

What it is: A lightweight water-based makeup setting spray that makes sure your makeup stays put.

How to use: Shake, spray and set! Shake the bottle and spray onto your face from a 10 inch distance."

The purpose of this spray is to keep your makeup looking fresh with that “just-applied” look all day, keeping you complexion flawless and shielding it from temperature variations, sweat and air pollution. This would definitely be a great product if you find yourself constantly reapplying your makeup throughout the day.

Now, I have normal-dry skin, and I found the finish very pleasing and natural - not too dewy to the point of looking oily. It refreshed and cooled my skin (after putting all those layers of makeup on!) and left my complexion flawless/airbrushed - not cakey nor powdery. However, for those of you with very oily skin, I wouldn't suggest you buy the dewy finish spray - it will make your skin look even more oily and is not meant for oil-control. Although I haven't tried it, you may want to look into buying the matte finish by NYX.

I tested out the dewy finish spray for a few weeks, and I can definitely assure you that it was very long wearing and made a difference in my makeup's longevity for the day. I've tried samples of the Skindinavia setting sprays/ the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray ($30) before, and I'd say the NYX sprays, at only $8, are very comparable in terms of quality. They both do what they claim, however the NYX spray is at a fraction of the cost.

For the cons, I'd say I'm not very big on the initial scent - it faintly smells like a mixture of alcohol and water - however, once you spray it on your face, the scent goes away and doesn't linger throughout the day. Secondly, make sure you don't spray too much and make sure to mist it evenly all over your face (otherwise you will look oily).

They setting sprays are available on ulta or on the NYX website for $8.

  3. nyx setting spray is used to keep your whole face of makeup in place—that includes setting powder, mascara, even lipstick. "Setting spray is applied all over the skin, not just your face makeup," Screven says. "And, some offer a more dewy finish, while others keep things matte.
